Play the game-Basics

SETTING-UP YOUR DARTBOARD

  • Select a “no thoroughfare”, safe & secure area.
  • A wooden and/or carpeted floor is recommended
  • A rubber mat to catch falling darts is recommended
  • Erect a scoreboard right next to the dartboard where it can be easily seen by the player but not obstruct play.
  • Allow for free space to accommodate players waiting their turn to throw and spectators.
  • Erect adequate lighting over the dartboard (see Rules of the Game).
  • The dart board is hung so that the bullseye is 1.73 m from the floor, and the oche or throwing line (the player stands BEHIND the oche) is 2.37 m from the face of the board.  The plumb line distance from the face of the dart board is 2,93m
  • A raised throw-line (oche) is advised. Failing that, use tape to mark the oche line. Players stand BEHIND the oche.
  • The oche must be perpendicular and centered to the face of the board
